Since the Aalborg +10 conference in Aalborg 2004 more than 650 local governments have signed the Aalborg Commitments and the number is still increasing. I am very delighted about the massive support which shows that the Aalborg Commitments is a very useful tool for local governments to address the challenges of sustainable development.
Between 19 - 21 May 2010 we met again in the City of Dunkerque to the 6th European Conference on Sustainable Cities and Towns. I’m very happy that this conference enthusiastically promoted the Aalborg Commitment process, demonstrated concrete results and showcased the experiences of the many local governments involved in this campaign.
At a special ceremonial plenary during the conference 16 new local governments joined the campaign by signing the Aalborg Commitments.
